Casa Guadalupana

This was a logo design project that I did for a small St. Paul non-profit that provides shelter and support to refugees while they navigate the immigration system.

For this project, it was important to make sure the imagery provided a sense of stability and safety while reflecting the established identity of the organization. I used the imagery of Our Lady of Guadalupe to create a shrine-styled outline and created a mono weight illustration of Our Lady in the center. She holds her hands over the entryway to the house which incorporates the street address. The door to the house is bright and the steps are long and exaggerated to show the safety at the end of a long journey. The name is encased within the design but can be pulled apart and used in different contexts. The “Casa” portion is emphasized on its own line as it is often used as shorthand for the organization. Alternate logos were also provided for use in horizontal orientations as well as inverted colorways. The clients were very engaged in the design process on this project which was an excellent experience for gaining valued feedback.
